Failing to upload file to Azure Functions using CLI with Unexpected Character

I have previously created and updated multiple Azure Functions using the CLI. However, recently, whenever I attempt to upload it I get an error saying:

Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: {. Path '[0].build_summary', line 1, position 627.

This is very unexpected, as I get this error for every function that I attempt to upload. Even the exact same folders that I had successfully uploaded only weeks ago cannot be uploaded now, so I don't see how it can be related to the actual content of the files.

How can this error be resolved?

@Daniel-1107 Thanks for reaching out. Could you please help us in sharing more details to trouble shoot further

  1. what is the cmdlet you are trying to run?

  2. Are you running those cmdlets from cloud shell CLI in the portal or from the local Azure CLI?

  3. Is the upload file operation continuously failing? if yes help us with the complete error message, Issue Time Stamp (UTC)\startTime (UTC) and also the function app details as well.

Hi @VenkateshDodda-MSFT,

I am attempting to deploy a function to Azure through the command line. The command that I am running is just "func azure functionapp publish {function name}".
I am running it locally using the Azure CLI.

The issue doesn't even seem to have anything to do with the actual function that I am trying to deploy, as even when I tried uploading the Azure template function, which you get by running "func init LocalFunctionProj --python", I still got the same error.

You can see an example for the image below, where I simply downloaded the template function and attempted to deploy it.

Please let me know about what other details are needed, as this issue only began occuring recently.

Cheers,
Daniel

@Daniel-1107 Thanks for your quick response. I have also come across the same error while publishing the function app from local to azure and my function core tools are running with v4.0.4426 a bit older version. Later I upgraded my function core tools to newer version v4.0.4483 post that i can deploy the function app to azure without any issues. We always recommend our customers to be on the latest version of function core tools and try the deployment.
Could you please upgrade your function core tools to v4.0.4483 and test it from your end as well and feel free reach back to me if you have any further issues.
