Currently duplicate mobile device enrolments occur where either:

  1. A user restores their device
  2. The owner of a device is changed and the Service Desk re-enrol a device previously held by another user without deleting the first user enrolment.

@LiCam Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

If you want to give the device to a new user, the recommended method is do wipe action and then re-enroll the device.

Currently, there is no method to prevent duplicate enrollments. If you want to delete the old enrollment record, it is suggested to try to configure a Device clean-up rule to clean the inactive record.

If you are still interested in preventing duplicate enrollments, it is suggested to post in intune feedback portal. This is a place to collect customers' requirements and problems.

Thanks for your understanding and hope it will happen in the future.
