Unable to stop user-defined Data Collector Set

I've created a couple of Data Collector Sets on a Server 2016 server. However when I right-click them and click "Stop", nothing seems to happen. Both the "Start" and "Stop" buttons are greyed out, the report still shows as "Collecting data...".

When I refresh the folder containing these DCS it shows that it's still running and allows me to click "Stop" again, but then the cycle repeats.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related Data Collector button grayed out.

    1. Go to Properties dialog open behind the Performance Monitor. I closed Performance Monitor, reopened Performance Monitor, then able start\stop the DCS
    2. Stop NT kernel logger file which is available in "Data collector set->Event Trace sessions-> NT kernel logger"
