Microsoft Edge IE mode (Enterprise mode) via GPO

Hello all

I have questions if Enterprise mode (IE compatible mode) implemented through GPO is also expired in 30 days (default).

I was looking at the article (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-ie-mode-local-site-list) and it mentions that the policy (
InternetExplorerIntegrationLocalSiteListExpirationDays) set to blank/default then the list is going to be expired in 30 days.

I was thinking as long as this computer based policy applied to computer object, the GPO keep applying so it is not going to be expired.

Could you please tell me if I need to set another policy so that the compatibility mode is not going to be inactive?

kind regards

Akira Sekine

Hi @AkiraSekine-3106

If you enable this policy InternetExplorerIntegrationLocalSiteListExpirationDays, you can keep the IE mode sites for 90 days at most.

If you don't want your IE mode sites to expire, you need to configure IE mode sites through policies. For the detailed steps, you can refer to this doc. There're two steps required to configure IE mode:

  1. Configure Internet Explorer integration

  2. Redirect sites from Microsoft Edge to IE mode

After doing the above, the IE mode sites will never expire unless you changed the policies.

Hi there,

This policy can be extended up to 90 days and if you are not editing this then the default period is 30 days. You can try some registry tweaks and see if the policy can stay for more than 90 days without reapplying the policy.

Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMainEnterpriseMode. Create a new string value and name it Enable. Restart IE11 and you should see the Enterprise Mode option in the Tools Menu.
