Window 10 pro activation

Hi,

So on my previous laptop I had a window 10 home which i bought through store (digital license). Now I bought a custom desktop and won't be using the laptop anymore. Then I install windows 10 home on the new desktop. The window 10 home wasn't activated but I upgraded it to window 10 pro. Now even though i already sign in and troubleshoot, my window 10 pro won't activated. Based on my research , it seems that window 10 home should be activated initially , and then can be upgrade to pro which I didn't do.
How can I solve this problem? T_T

Hi @FarahDalilah-4114,

Do you have a code to a Windows 10 Pro version?

Then you just need to add it.

Select Open Activation in Settings. Click Change product key to enter a Windows product key.

If you haven't, I think you should make clean install by using a home version and then activate it.

I don't have a product key as I bought it from microsoft store which only has digital license. If I do clean install by using home version, can you tell me how can I activate it as I don't have a product key for it? And what is the next step?
Thank you

@FarahDalilah-4114,

If you bought a digital copy of Windows 10 from the Microsoft online store — not the Windows Store app — your product key will be included in the confirmation email you received after paying.

Have you received this key by email?

If you don't still find the key, you can find it by using command line in your old laptop.

Run the cmd window as administrator.

Then run the following command.

wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

The OEM Windows installation is married to the motherboard.

A retail Windows edition / version can be moved to any Windows computer.
