When I login to Azure with my username. I cant see or access my resources. I think this may be because my login is now linked to two Azure accounts, one of which is empty. I am desperate to access the primary account but dont know how to do this. Thank you

@Lloyd Macfarlane , Are you using your Microsoft Account to login ? Could you please try to go to https://portal.azure.com/#settings/directory . From what we understand , your user account can be attached to two different subscriptions. In case of azure , we use subscription to denote a logical unit where you have all the resources. You mentioned that you think your account is associated with two different azure accounts (which I am assuming to be subscription) .

If you are using a Microsoft Account then it may be possible that you may be part of two different subscription which may not be associated with the same directory. It is important to understand the Azure AD and Azure subscription relationship to understand further on this. Azure Active Directory is a resource which is always associated with the subscription . You cannot create an Azure subscription without an Azure AD instance. When you signup for Azure subscription , an azure Active directory automatically gets created in the background and the subscription is associated with the same. An Azure Active directory can be created without having any azure subscription associated with it but an azure subscription will always have a Azure Active directory associated with it . The relation between Azure AD and Azure subscription can be summarized in the following picture. You can read more here on how Azure Active Directory is associated with Azure subscription.

So as per details provided by you , you have access to two subscriptions and both of them may be associated to two different directories. Once you change the directory through azure portal , you may be able to see the other subscription which will have resources you are looking for. Please logon to azure portal with the account you are logging in and click the gearbox icon on top right corner as shown below which will take you to the portal settings.

You can also go to the same using the URL https://portal.azure.com/#settings/directory and then use the switch directory option as you can see in the below image. In my case I have two directories as you can see in the below image and both directories can be associated to different subscriptions.

After the switch , go to the Azure subscriptions blade and you can find your subscription. You can use the URL https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Billing/SubscriptionsBlade to go there directly . Once you click the relevant subscription , you can find your azure resources.

Another reason for you not being able to access your resources would be that any subscription owner have removed your rights for the same. Ideally you can access resources if you have any RBAC role like owner , contributor etc. assigned . If they remove you then you may not be able to access those resources.

Hope the information helps you gain access to your resources . I would strongly suggest to go through the AD - subscription association article which will help you understand more on how signin in to one directory can show or hide different subscriptions on the portal for you . Should you have any further queries , do let us know and we will be happy to help you further. Thank you.
