    Hi @Caroline

    Welcome to Q&A forum ~

Does your notebooks stored on OneDrive?
If yes, I would like to suggest you open OneNote Online for a test.
Besides, please try the open the notebooks on OneDrive via right-cliking on them and choose Open > Open in app > Allow.

Then please click Apple icon > System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies, make sure no option is ticked.

If it does not work, it's recommended to uninstall OneNote by moving OneNote icon to Trash.
Then download and install it back from Apple App store.
