Microsoft Exchange 2019 to Office365 migration

Hi.

Recently we have acquired anther company which is running Exchange 2019 and OnPrem AD. we in our organization have separate domain/forest/AD and Office 365. Now we need to migrate their exchange mailboxes to Office365 (Not migrating AD). their domain name is different e.g abc.com and we need to migrate their mailboxes to our tenant xyz.com. please guide me how to complete the task?

    It will be the same

    If ABC.com is full Office 365 "or ad sync users synced", you need to:

    Add domain DEF.com to the tenant "without change MX"

    Sync the DEF.com users to Office 365 tenant

    Setup Hybrid configuration in DEF.com

    Migrate the mailbox

    You cant try with only one mailbox to be sure

    You may consider using cutover migration to move the mailboxes to Office 365.

    ABC.com = your organization
    DEF.com = acquired company

    If ABC.com is in hybrid configuration with your tenant office 365, you need to:

    • Add trust between the two forest
    • Add domain DEF.com to the tenant "without change MX"
    • Sync the DEF.com users to Office 365 tenant
    • Setup Hybrid configuration in DEF.com
    • Migrate the mailbox

    If ABC.com is full Office 365, you need to:

    • Add domain DEF.com to the tenant "without change MX"
    • Sync the DEF.com users to Office 365 tenant
    • Setup Hybrid configuration in DEF.com
    • Migrate the mailbox
