Hi,

I am getting the below error while Editing and Saving the PDF file type item within the SharePoint document library.

Error: sensitivity label cannot be applied since this file type is not supported for sensitivity label operation.

This is happening with all sites on our Tenant. Screenshot attached.

    Hi Marco,

I'm in the same situation, solution has been created two years ago. To my knowledge, the customer does nothing with sensitivity labels, and since one month it is broken. Hard to explain to end users that the other properties are saved, and that this is just a warning that they should not care about :-(

    Best regards,

    Marc

    HI,

we have the same problem, did you manage to solve it? We don't use sensitivity labels and this column suddenly appeared. Maybe someone touched some general setting?

    Thank you.

    Regard,

    Marco

    Dear Sarath,

    Good day!!

I understand your concern and to my search, the built-in sensitivity labels are limited to the Office files and built-in sensitivity labels can be applied to the PDF’s that are created from the Office files.

For example: Applying the Sensitivity label to the Office file and saving the Office file as a PDF via Save As feature or Export feature.

Moreover, the Microsoft KB’s related sensitivity labels claims that the labels can be applied Office file formats. In this situation, I would like to suggest you contact the IT admin of your Office 365 organization and raise a support ticket from the Office 365 admin center, so that related team can help you further on this. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
