VM stucks in "Deleting a Reference Point"

Hello,

I have two out of five machines in my HyperV hanging in the status "Deleting a Reference Point " ("Löschen eines Referenzpukts - Geplant").

What exactly is a reference point? Does it have anything to do with checkpoints? I have not found anything on this.

How can I resolve this.
I have already restarted both the VM and the host.
I have also created a snapshot on the affected VMs and deleted it. This works fine, but does not solve the problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion what else I can do?

Thanks
Dennis

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to VM stuck.

    1. I would suggest you to first try power-cycle your Hyper-V server to clear this stuck merging or clear VSS state.
    2. If you have any Antivirus or security software please try to uninstall or disable for sometime.
    3. As you had already tried to merged for one of your smaller VM's .vhdx and .avdx files with unsuccessful result due corruption or CRC integrity mismatch, I would highly recommended to try to recover it from your Veaam backup from good copy.
    4. To Save your time as its seems due to Veaam backup application ,I will also advise you to engage Veaam
