MTP Driver Issue

Ok so a few days ago my phone suddenly stopped being recognised by my computer (my phone works perfectly on any other computer I connect it to)

The problem is being caused by my MTP Driver as you can see from this first image and it says 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (code 28)'

so I install the driver and this comes up.....

so I went to C:/Windows/Inf and located wpdmtp.inf - right clicked and install and then this came up

I have been trying for days to try and fix this and no solutions I'm finding on forums seem to work

I don't know why there's problem after problem trying to fix this and what to try next?

Thanks for any help

ok so a similar theme is obviously recurring - In all my attempts the response has been the same 'The system cannot find the file specified' so its obviously hiding, missing or broken somewhere on my computer - can I not just reinstall it or download a new mtp driver from Microsoft?

Here is the results of setupapi.dev if it helps

    Hi

I downloaded the Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit, restarted the computer and tried to connect the phone and nothing happened again. Does it require any further installation?

    Thank You

Thank you for the update. If that's the case, then try downloading the Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit and see if it will help resolve the issue. You can download the kit from this link. After installing it, restart your PC and try connecting your phone again to see if it will now work.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

Try installing the driver manually as that seemed to work in the following topic - follow the steps in the "Answer" to install the driver manually:

    Hi,

Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) issue can occur if there is a faulty USB driver. If updating the driver caused more errors, then we suggest uninstalling the driver itself from the device manager. Then if you know the manufacturer of the device, visit their website and search the latest driver compatible to Windows 10 and install it. Then try connecting your phone to your PC again and see if the same issue will occur.

Get back to us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.
