Cannot switch out of Windows 10 s mode

Just got a windows surface laptop refurbished. Has Windows 10s .

Have tried all the options to switch out and still no luck.

Microsoft store lets me push the GET button but nothing happens.

Trying anything around the command prompt is blocked because of S mode.

Microsoft store is latest version.

All windows and store update done.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Timothy

Issue seems to be resolved since 5 AM UTC 20/1/2020. Can anyone of you confirm this?

You may run wsreset command before trying.

How it can be like this?

Nothing helps. Wsreset doesn't help, reinstalling the Windows doesn't help. Button is still greyed out with the the text "Check with your IT or system administrator", even I am the only user and it's my personal computer.

Windows, you should really do something quick!

In your case @SamuliP you have a work account associated with your device and what i could recommend is to check your Settings > Accounts > Access work or School and disconnect the email that was listed on that page and try to switch out of s mode again. That should switch your device off of s mode.

This was exactly the fix for me.  I had linked a school account when I first bought the laptop, which apparently gave the school some sort of administrator privileges.  After I disconnected this account, I was able to switch out of S mode.  Then I just linked the account in again.

    Thanks!

    Hi Timothy,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

We are aware of the reports of people not being able to switch out of S mode right now. Please wait for a day or two and the issue would be hopefully resolved. Appreciate your patience.
