Moving Forza Horizon 3 Game Data To Another PC

Hi,

I have recently purchased Forza Horizon 3 on the Windows App Store on my Surface Pro 3. I downloaded it onto my Surface Pro 3 because i have access to NBN (faster internet) at work where i was able to download the game within an hour or so.

I want to copy the game data to a USB so i can then install the game on my home pc. I was unable to download the game on my home pc as my interent would take a week to download.

I have tried moving the data using the in built windows function Settings>System>Apps & Features then selecting Froza Horizon 3 and select move to my USB, but i get an error message "We couldnt move Forza Horizon 3. The operation did not complete successfully. Try again in a bit. The error code is 0x80073d0b, in case you need it".

I then tried by taking ownership of the Windowsapp folder and finding the game data "Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.10.2_x64__8werkyb3d8bbwe". But when i try to copy and paste it onto my usb (which has plenty of space and is formatted in NTFS) it keeps telling me i need to "provide administrator permission to copy to this folder" i select continue and then prompts "you need permission to perform this action".

Doe sanyone know how i can copy the game data for Forza Horizon 3 to my home pc as i cannot download 50GB from home.

Microsoft devs have become quite detached from the real world and they just assume that everyone has gigabit internet and unlimited data quotas like Silicon Valley.

Not being able to transfer Forza Horizon 3 from my media PC to my gaming PC (or back it up in the event of a system restore from image) is a deal-breaker for me and means I won't be buying any more Windows Store products.  Steam is a much better platform and allows me to just copy the files or use the built-in backup function.

I've spent years defending Windows products but my patience is wearing thin.

It takes 2 days to download 50GB on a typical internet connection and costs money.  I can transfer a 50GB Steam game from one PC to another PC in the same house in 10 minutes for free.

Windows Store is broken without this basic functionality.

This is not a suitable response, the OP is asking a way to BACKUP the already downloaded game.

I'm on a limited bandwidth connection, downloading 50GB means a WHOLE WEEK for me, it's not fun at all, plus I completely destroy the connection for the rest of the family while doing that so it's a nightmare.

Microsoft MUST provide a means to do a backup to their store BIG games.

How are we supposed to re-download Gears of War 4 for example?.  Do you understand that there are people outside silicon valley that does NOT have huge internet connections and are actually PAYING for the games?.

Do like Steam !.  Make backup possible !

I could not find any mechanism for transferring the game.  Let's start with a more basic question.

• How does one transfer Forza Horizon 3 from one PC to another?

It's not a perfect solution but you can download the installer file by finding the URL when Windows Store starts downloading using a free program like "Fiddler."

For Forza Horizon 3, I downloaded the file with a download manager.  It was called -:

Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.54.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.EAppx       (52.3GB)

I can install it on any PC by starting the download in the Windows Store until it finishes "Acquiring License" and then cancelling the download.

I then open Powershell and type this to install e.g. -:

add-appxpackage "C:\Users<username>\Downloads\Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.54.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.EAppx"

The game installed in about 10 minutes on my PC which is much better than waiting days for the download!!

The game then runs (although it may need to download any game updates but they are usually small)
