Internet access not working on HP laptop when Mobile Hotspot turns ON
The problem is with Mobile Hotspot on my laptop, in terms that when I turn it ON it shares a connection via WiFi from my Ethernet cable to my mobile phone, BUT then I don't have internet access on my HP laptop. I've been using for a year Mobile Hotspot on my HP laptop for connecting my phone to the internet through Ethernet wired connection.
Since last week, my Mobile Hotspot on my laptop stopped working properly. When I turn ON Mobile Hotspot and share as usual internet through my Ethernet connection - my mobile phone HAS internet and is properly connected, BUT my laptop LOSES access to the internet (by that I mean any app can't access the internet, and Chrome browser partially).
It started after I got infected by malware when downloading some program and removed it, and then came up WIndows update KB5014699 on 17th June, which I installed. After that installation and restart of the computer, Hotspot won't work as before. I guess that there are security problems after the Windows update, which messes up my internet connection properties.
My Mobile Hotspot can be turned ON, and I can connect my mobile phone just as before. And on phone, I can access the internet. BUT my laptop doesn't have internet access, as a host. Even if Ethernet works perfectly and shows that it is sharing the connection. Also, WiFi is turned on, and everything at first glance looks functioning perfectly. But no internet access on the laptop.
When I try accessing the internet from the Chrome browser when the Hotspot is turned ON, I can access only Google search and Youtube. Other websites won't load, also EDGE won't load, and it says ''ERROR> THE CONNECTION WAS RESET.
Also when I troubleshoot Incomming connections (Connect to Chrome) it says "Security Policy or Firewall might block the connection". Filter which reports that is named> NatAlePortFilter.
Or when I troubleshoot just Internet connection while Hotspot is on and I try to enter some website from a laptop, it says that ''Network security settings might need to be adjusted to allow Windows to connect''.
I turned off my Firewall, and Microsoft Defender. Still the same situation. Tried allowing Chrome through the Firewall whitelist - still the same.
Checked in Shared properties under my Ethernet adapter sharing through all ports that were listed there (from 1700 till..). Still no change. Also, other apps on the laptop don't have internet access (tried CCleaner to see if any updates are out for programs, but it shows no connection, and Last.fm scrobbler won't show info on listened artists).
I noticed that - whenever I click on Ethernet adapter Properties, on the tab Sharing it isn't checked in! But on the Adapter, it shows that the connection is ''Shared''. And when I tick it in again and save and close the Properties window, by clicking adapter properties again I see that it isn't checked, but still, under adapter, it is written that it is a shared connection to my Hotspot.
Meanwhile, when I try to reset Hosted Network via CMD Administrator run, the same info shows on the driver - Hosted network supported > NO.
I don't remember what was my previous driver but it wasn't named like I see it is now nor the wifi network was optioned like now for me after the WIndows update.
In Device Manager, I can see a Wireless driver and in the hidden option Microsoft wifi direct virtual adapter.
But still, cmd shows > Hosted network supported> NO.
And I can't start Hosted Network, nor reset via cmd.
In device manager, I see: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (so it;s driver, and it doesn't say ''adapter''), and when I try to update it from the computer and not automatically 3 options are showing> 2 named Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (Intel), and 3rd one named Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (Microsoft).
Then when I click > show hidden devices> jumps out 2 more: Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter, and, Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter. On those two when I try to update from the computer too, I can't see any other version, just one named the same as those drivers per each.
When I click to update any of these versions from the computer, nothing changes. still in cmd shows Hosted network supported > NO
Also for both networks (Ethernet and Hotspot) it says OPERATIONAL. Only on Hotspot connection says DISSCONECTED. so appears both work but some problem exists to allow both to funcionate simultaneously. *(network gateway is a problem I assume right?) Can someone help?
I tried rolling back drivers, uninstalling, updating, resetting the network, IP address, Proxy is on AUTO, Setting network services on automatic and start-running, turning off Power management, and Setting wireless maximum performance in Power mode, clearing the computer with Malwarebytes and ESET, Restoro... nothing changed. SOmething still blocks internet access on host device while the phone has normal internet access from the laptop's hotspot.
On top of that - seems I can't uninstall that cursed update, since when I try to uninstall it be it from Control panel be it from cmd it shows an error and doesn't uninstall.
Also, when I try downloading with IDM video, it says SSL_connect error 5.
And when opening Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre
I can see only an Ethernet connection, even if the Hotspot is turned ON. I don't know if it is relevant (I didn't pay attention before, to open Control Panel and look if there are 2 connections showing up when I used Hotspot).
Also under Ethernet> Properties here in Control Panel, I could access a tab named Authorization. ??
I don't know if that is the root of the problem, and how it should be configured? And is it configured right or wrong in my case... ????
Can someone help the cause, please?
I am drained for wasting a week on this cr*p literally and my work is falling apart cause I depend on Mobile Hotspot (using simultaneously laptop+mobile phone)
Using Windows 10 21H2. Hp Elitebook.

2022-06-28T07:31:15+00:00 Hello SSx-5285
My first suggestion would be to rest the network following gthe next steps:
1.Press Windows + I.
2.Select Network & Internet.
3..Scroll down in the right Status pane.
4Look for the Network reset link under Change your network settings.
5.Click it and then click Reset now.
6.Wait until finishedThen run an image repair (recommended to run using a downloaded image, mounted) as in https:// docs .microsoft .com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/repair-a-windows-image?view=windows-11
If still not working you may try to enable the hotspot using the next steps:
1.First of all go to the device manager now go to View>>select Show hidden devices....Then go to network adapters and find out Microsoft Hosted network Virtual Adapter, Press right click and enable the option.
2.Then go to command prompt with administrative privileges and then go for the following command:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow
netsh wlan start hosted networkAnd of course, please do check in both Network properties that IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled.
