Hi

I am trying to add a custom domain name but it's telling me the following

This domain has been previously configured on xxx.onmicrosoft.com using an existing Azure AD or Office 365. To verify this domain name, you will first need to remove the domain name from the existing directory. Click here for more information.

This is correct, I have used it before but I no longer have access to that account. I've spent months and months trying to recover that account but unable to do so.

So, without having access to the old/previous Microsoft account, how can i very my domain name with my new/current AAD?

I still have access to my domain and I have removed the previous TXT record. Is there a way I can use it without getting the old azure account back?

As you are unable to login to the previous onmicrosoft account, I suggest you to raise a support request to Azure Support with all the necessary details . They can help you to access the previous account or they can remove the necessary entries from the backend to complete the custom domain validation

I am facing the same problem and it seems to be a loop:

I am switching from mynamemydomain.onmicrosoft.com to mydomain.com as required for setting the correct publisher name in my app when I sign from Azure.

    1) Cannot verify domain mydomain.com:
A distinct domain name can only be verified in a single directory,
if you previously verified the domain name in another Azure AD that you use with Office 365,
it must be deleted before it can be verified in your new directory.
Contact your IT admin department to remove the domain name from the existing directory.
    2) Cannot delete domain mynamemydomain.onmicrosoft.com:
1 resource is using it: the only user me
    3) cannot set the domain of the user to mydomain.com since the domain is not verified.
    4) Cannot create a user in domain mydomain.com since it is not verified.
