we are setting up a new SCCM and Intune setup and planning to deploy win10 devices as Azure ad joined through windows Autopilot. The requirement does not speak about co-management, however wanted to understand if we can rollout SCCM client on such Azure AD devices and install apps on it from SCCM without being co-management. Any help or suggestion on this is appreciated!! Thanks

First note that Autopilot is irrelevant here. Next, you can install the ConfigMgr agent without configuring co-management, but then the systems won't be manageable by Intune as the ConfigMgr agent prevents all Intune policy from taking effect. What exactly are you trying to avoid by not implementing co-management?

Client requirement stated no co-management and devices are not on-prem domain joined, they are just azure joined through autopilot process. So was exploring option for application deployment on these devices which are not possible through Intune. other than manually installing are there any other means to install such application on these azure joined devices.

Azure AD joined devices can be also co-managed. If you move all the workloads to Intune, the device will be fully managed by Intune, but you will able to deploy applications from ConfigMgr and Intune at the same time. Like Jason mentioned, if you don't move those workloads, Intune won't be able to push any policies to devices.

So, will they or won't they be using Intune to manage the devices?

Do they know what co-management is? If so, what's their reasoning for not wanting it?

Is the intent simply to deploy with Autopilot + Intune and then solely manage with ConfigMgr thereafter? If so, why (as that really makes no sense)?

i agree its a confusing ask, they are migrating all their on-prem setup to cloud and planning to refresh all laptops for users. they are eliminating the domain dependency as much as possible for win 10 devices, however they need configmgr to manage WVD environment and servers in Azure for patching and app deployment. so again when the question came about win 10 app deployment which ar enot possible via intune they dragged SCCM in without co-management. we have updated same stating SCCM will rule devices if client are installed without co-management, but was verifying any other feasibility here.

That still doesn't make sense. The requirements are all around "cloud" so why wouldn't Intune and co-management be included in that?

Why would Win 10 app deployment not be possible via Intune? It's very much possible and feasible for customers who want to eliminate on-prem resources. Why are they so against co-management if they want to reduce their reliance on on-prem infrastructure?
