Hi mko-6871
I've been in your boots a few times.
It likely comes down to your boot media.
I'd suggest paying a few bucks and bringing it into a computer company that will do the upgrade for you.
Or get your hands on an official windows boot usb and see if that does the job.
Upgrade from Win 7 to Windows 10 doesn't work, no internet
Hello,
I want to update an old PC with Windows 7 Pro, to Windows 10.
I tried media creator and it fails, I tried the update fix, and it still fails.
I tried the windows 10 upgrade assistant and it fails saying there is no internet! (browser and usual windows updates works)
I tried the windows 8 upgrade assistant and it fails also saying there is no internet.
I tried it with cable and with wifi.
I have a USB installer stick with windows 10.
I can't start the installer from the stick when booted into windows 7, because the stick is in UFEI format and so partitions are not shown in windows 7 to start the setup.,
However I can boot from this stick if I change in the bios to UEFI boot mode.
Questio :
As the install from this boot stick would mean that the HD is partitioned before installation, it will be a fresh install and not an upgrade.
Does the Windows 10 activation still works in this mode, or is it required to start the installer from a booted windows 7?
is there any other idea or way to do the upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10?
thank you

thanks for the answers I managed it the following way:
copied the content of UEFI USB stick to another (just simple one partition).
just started setup from there and it worked fine.
Windows 10 was installed and got activated based on Windows 7 to 10 upgrade.after this. just created a legacy USB boot stick.
booted from this one, repartition hard drive, and made a fresh installation of windows 10 :)
