Remove unwanted account from Office 365

Hello all

Sometimes when I launch Office programs (Word, Excel, etc) the account that it tries to sign in on is not mine, and if I forget to check then I start having sync problems after saving the documents.

My question therefore is, how do I remove this unwanted account from my install of office 365, or how can I ensure that it ALWAYS signs in using my account and not this other one?

Thanks

Jodie

Hi Jodie,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

Sign-out of all Microsoft Services, from Word & Excel as well as from online services. Navigate to File > Account. Try singing out from the account. Close and reopen the applications and check if this resolves the issue.

In case the above step does not work, let us try the following step.

Remove your Account Credentials from the Control Panel and after restating the computer try signing into the Account again from Word and check if the issue resolves or still persists.

  1. Go to the main Start Screen -> type Control Panel.
  2. Go to User Accounts and Family Safety -> Click on User Accounts.
  3. In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.
  4. In the Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > Generic Credentialslook for the live account ID and password (your Microsoft Account) and remove it and restart the computer.

Try the above steps and let us know the result.

Thank you.
