Hey, I'm trying to install Minecraft for Windows 10 I got for free because I already own it on PC. But whenever I try to install it, it instantly fails. I already sent a request to Microsoft itself for help, and I was wondering if anyone on here could help me out faster. The error code I'm getting is: 0x80070424. Thanks for the help in advance.

    Hi Ethan,

Thanks for posting your query. I am Kenny, Independent Advisor.

I've seen that this particular error code 0x80070424 might affect various application installation attempts. Did this error appear only when trying to install Minecraft?

Here are some quick solutions you could try. Before doing any intrusive troubleshooting like reinstalling, try using the built-in troubleshooting tools:

    1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

Start -> type "Troubleshoot" -> Click Windows Update -> Run the Troubleshooter

Follow the prompts to download any updates needed. You may be prompted to download files to fix Windows Update Database corruption.

Reboot and attempt to install the app again.

    1. Perform a Repair in Place / Repair Upgrade. It is a reinstallation of Windows 10 that retains your system settings and installed programs. You will need to have your installation disk ready or download the Win10 ISO and sign in with Administrator rights.

    Hi Ethan

Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Firt of all, make sure you are running the latest version of Windows 10. Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates

Wait while any pending updates are downloaded.

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

    Open Start

    Type: cmd

    Right click CMD

    Click Run as administrator

    At the command prompt, type:

    net user administrator/active:yes

    Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Do you have the latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 1803 installed?

Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features

    	Scroll down to Minecraft

    	Select it

    	Click Advanced options

    	Click Reset

    	Restart

    	Check the Store for updates

    If that does not work...

download the following utility and use it to remove Minecraft:

Download and reinstall Minecraft for Windows 10 - Microsoft Store

This issue requires contacting support, let them put you through a tier 2 support so they can investigate your Microsoft Account, because that is likely where the issue lies why you can't download it.
