Windows Hello losing settings after a reboot

Hi all,

My company runs on premise AD, I've enabled the fingerprint biometrics within Group Policy, which also asks for the Hello Pin to be setup. Initially this all works fine.

However when the device is connected via VPN some devices lose their settings upon rebooting, even stranger some of them are ok and some of them lose settings without rebooting which appears to be random.

The devices are all in the same OU.

I've tried clean boot

I've tried the below in another article

Start the Services mmc.
Stop the system service called "Windows Biometric Service"
Move away the files in C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase for backup, to be able to undo this process if you so decide
Restart the service
Register the fingerprint or PIN again.

What else could be checked?

Thanks all

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to Windows Hello losing settings after a reboot.

The Hello data was corrupted, which is the cause of the issue. The root of the issue is presumably some unidentified Windows bug, thus only Microsoft can completely resolve it.

To fix the problem, rebuild the corrupted Hello data after cleaning it up. Until the bug strikes again in the future, which is unfortunately still possible, this will fix the issue.
