CCM\Incoming Directory Has Thousands Of Files

While working on another issue (anti-virus exclusions for SCCM servers), it was discovered that we have over 11,000 files in the CCM\Incoming directory on our MPs. There is not much information about this directory. It seems to be a "virtual directory" related to Bits jobs. It has a schedule task associated with it that is supposedly doing a clean up. (BITS_CCM_Incoming_{53754D06-447A-4C05-9C0B-0A7F557690DA}) Logs files do not indicate that anything is wrong with the MPs. File count is not going up and is not going down.

Several Questions:
Should there be that many files in the ccm\incoming directory?
What are the files that are being put into that directory?
Is it safe to clean out that directory and let it start anew?
What is the scheduled task and what is it supposed to be doing?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Where is your mp in relationships to your Sql server? Is it over the wan?
I would not clean out the files.
Have you looked at any of the files with Notepad?

    Hi, @Rut, Rory

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I checked my SCCM MP, there shouldn't be many files on the directory.
You may check your IIS logs for CCM_Incoming and see what the errors are, it may related to the bits.
