Office Apps Update Causing Default Apps problem

Question

Im seeing problem with users updating their Office 365 Apps to version 2202 on semi annual channel. On about 10%, their defaults apps get messed up to where windows wont open .doc files and yet still shows its the default. The icon is no longer word icon, but still the doc opens up from explorer in Word, but Word then says its not the default. So its like it is and isnt. So far the only fix is to delete the users profile. Then it works again. It seems to only affect the user logged in at the time of the update. Any one else had this issue?

I would suggest you check this .doc registry key on other machines.

Besides, here is a thread I find online, I want to confirm whether there are Adobe software installed on those machines with this issue?

If yes, I would suggest you choose one machine and uninstall Adobe software to have a check.
