My microphone isn't working in Teams on AVD using the Windows app on my Macbook air 2025. Those on the other end of a call have said they hear sound from me for a second then it cuts off.

I have checked all mac settings and all settings in AVD, all seem fine:

  • The PC settings in the Windows app are correct, the microphone box is checked
  • All permissions are set correctly in mac regarding the windows app
  • On AVD the pc settings state audio input is coming in from 'remote audio'
  • All audio settings and permissions in AVD are correct

We've tried my local profile in AVD.

I also did a microphone test in settings on AVD and that worked.

Also, something to note is that my teams administrator is also unable to enforce my organisations background.

Thanks

    Hello CaitlinEB,

    Thank you for your question,

Since your microphone test worked in AVD settings but cuts off in Teams, the issue likely lies within Teams or AVD's remote audio handling. Here are some advanced steps to try:

Check Teams Audio Settings in AVD

Open Microsoft Teams in AVD. Go to Settings > Devices. Make sure your microphone is set to "Remote Audio" (not another device). Test the microphone inside Teams.

Disable Audio Redirection & Manually Select Your Mic

On AVD, go to Remote Desktop settings. Navigate to Local Resources > Remote Audio settings. Ensure "Play on this computer" is checked but try unchecking "Record from this computer" to see if it makes a difference. Restart Teams and try again.

Update Your AVD Client & Teams

Ensure you're using the latest version of the Windows app for Mac. Also, check for updates to Teams within AVD.

Please let me know if these work, if not, I will check for further troubleshooting steps,

I have the exact same problem and identified that it only happens when the option: "Enable optimizations for microsoft Teams" is enabled on Windows app of my MAC. When disabled it works fine, but the Camera don't work when it is disabled at all. Just to add information to possibly help on the troubleshooting.
