Remove folders from Sharepoint, list of Synced Users

Hi there, 1st post on this forum. I need to start removing finished projects from a Sharepoint library and as Teams Channels to start uncluttering what has become quite congested. I plan to renamed the folders in the 1st instance by giving them a prefix, deleting the Channel in Teams, and then copying the data to a corporate server which is where the data will be archived. As I will do a copy I can then do some checksums to know that all the data has sucessfully been saved to the corporate server as I did experience some odd behaviour when uploading from server to Sharepoint back in March/April.

I want to know if there is any way of knowing if other colleagues have synced to the folder before I start to do this. Do Sharepoint Administrators get access to lists of synced users? I am not an administrator, and so I would have to defer this question to get a useful answer.

Any advice out there, or any comment on my proposed method?

thanks
Matt

    Hi @Matt Beamish ,

Based on your description, I would like to confirm your environment. Are you using SharePoint Online or SharePoint On-Premise? I assume you are trying to figure out how many users are syncing the folder to their local machines.
If this is not your scenario, please let me know with more information of your current situation, screenshots will be helpful.

Up to now, there might not be a direct approach to get a list of users who have synced the folder.

If you can contact someone who is a tenant global admin, then he can check the file syncing records in audit log reports in the admin center.
Here is a brief introduction about audit log reports:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/search-the-audit-log-in-security-and-compliance?view=o365-worldwide

So to ensure data integrity and consistency, it is recommended to confirm with your colleagues before you archive the contents or contact your IT for checking audit log.

    Best regards,
    Yanting Lu

    Dear Yanting Lu,
thanks for your reply. I can confirm that I am using Sharepoint Online, and yes I am wanting to know who has synced which folders locally, before I start changing and moving things around, as I could see this might cause lots of issues.
    thanks again
    Matt
