My WSUS Clients server 2016, i am updating the patch, could't patch install from wsus (in Server 2012).
Error Messeage:

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80244022)

Troubleshoot from WSUS client end (do the Server 2016), Please find the screenshot and advice me.

I am out of the office last week. So it is late to respond to the reply.

Here is the error detail information:
0x80080008 -2146959352 CO_E_SERVER_STOPPING

According to the error information, it is recommended to check the related service:
Such as the following:
Client-side:
Bits、Windows Update

WSUS server side:
Application Pools、

Related picture:

In addition, it is recommended to check whether the WSUS is healthy or not. We could refer to the following steps to make sure:
Open the CMD as administrator on the WSUS server and navigate to the wsusutil.exe tool. the wsusutil.exe tool is as the following location:
C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools

Then we could enter the following command:

wsusutil.exe checkhealth

We could check the result on the Event Viewer.

Please let me know if there are any updates.

In order to reasonable management, I just want to confirm that whether you have checked the DND server's address or not?

According to the first post, the issue is that the Windows Server 2016 client can not get updates from the Windows Server 2012 WSUS server. During the research, it seems that this issue may be due to the DNS server or the DNS Server's address. It is recommended to check the DNS Server's address on the Windows Server 2016 client first. And then we need to confirm that the DNS Server is running healthy.

If all the above are correct, we could research further. If there are any updates about this issue, please let me know.

My wsus not domain clients, this server not connected with AD or DNS Server, I want to patch update non domain server
and workstation.
Please advice me.

If you confirm that there is nothing wrong with the DNS, we could try the following steps to troubleshoot.

Open CMD as an administrator and enter the following command: net stop wuauserv
net stop bits 2.

And then delete the software distribution folder.

Then we could run the following command on the CMD:

net start wuauserv net start bits

Last, it is recommended to check for updates on the client.

According to the screenshot you provide, it seems that there are something wrong with the address of the DNS server in the Windows Server 2016 client. Please help to confirm the DNS server's address is correct and the DNS server is running healthy. Here are screenshots for your reference:

Navigate to the WSUS Server and open the IIS
