App Store: "Your PC isn't connected to the Internet."

My App Store is not working right now. If I open the App Store, I get a message saying the following:

"Your PC isn't connected to the Internet. To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again."

Obviously, this isn't true, as I can browse the web perfectly normally with a web browser, and all other applications are able to access the internet. I have made sure my proxy settings are unchecked, so that should not be the issue. The odd thing is that the App Store was working fine about two weeks ago, but then it hit this message and it hasn't changed. Restarting the computer has no effect on the message.

Running the Music app (which I downloaded when the App Store was still working) has a similar error. When I open the Music app, and click the "Sign in" link, the following error code shows up:

"0xc00d11b2 (0x80072af9)"

I am running Windows 8 Enterprise, if that makes a difference.

Is there a solution to this issue?

    Do the following steps:

    Disable Proxy

If you are using proxy to connect internet please disable that, refer to the steps below to disable proxy:

    1. Press “Windows Key” + “R”.
    2. Type “inetcpl.cpl”.
    3. Go to Connection.
    4. Click on LAN Settings.
    5. Check the box which says Automatically detect settings.
    6. Uncheck the box under Proxy server.

If you are still facing issues with it, please follow the steps below:

    Reset Windows Update Component.

This will reset and reregister Windows Update Components. This usually solves Windows update related problems.

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

I worked with Microsoft support on this problem.

On my system we realized that the Windows Store App worked fine for other local accounts on my PC just not for my account.

While logged in as me the technician ran WSReset.exe (which clears out the Windows Store app cache) and as soon as that was done my Windows Store app started to work as it should.

Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

Ive seen this problem popping up for many users on forums. I havent had any of these common solutions help me yet. I still get the same thing when I open my Windows Store....

"Your PC isn't connected to the internet. to use the store, connect to the internet and then try again."

Nothing I've seen, including these solutions, worked for me.

Also, if it helps I am running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, over an install of Windows 7. And the windows store has never worked for me after installing Windows 8.

    I have:

    • Connected to internet and restarted router
    • Updated all drivers
    • double checked computer time and date
    • updated my microsoft account address and time zone
    • checked for windows updates
    • Ran Network Troubleshooter - no problems
    • Ran Hardware and Device Troubleshooter - no problems
    • Downloaded and ran the Modern UI App troubleshooter - said that display adapter drivers might be out of date. - this should have nothing to do with store.
    • I do not believe I am running a proxy of any kind
    • I have uninstalled my previous antivirus -- Avast

UPDATE: I am able to make a new local account and that one is able to access the windows store, but my main account. The one set up with all my account info is unable to.

Please let me know if there are any other ideas. I would like to start enjoying all the rest of Windows 8.

Yes, this problem is specific to the Windows Store app.  I have no problems accessing the internet (or doing anything else) using other apps.

I upgraded from Win7 Ultimate 32-bit to Win8 Pro 32-bit.  This problem was present from the very first time I logged in to Win8.

My computer is not on a domain.

The network troubleshooter reported no issues.

The modern app troubleshooter made 1 permissions change.  The behavior of the Windows Store app did not change.

    I have previously:

    • Installed all important Windows Updates
    • Rebooted multiple times
    • Checked date/time on my pc
    • checked to ensure I have no proxies configured
    • uninstalled previous antivirus solution (prior to upgrade to Win8)

I have my Windows 8 account set to sync with the cloud.  This is not my first Win8 machine to sync to the cloud, so when I installed Win8 on this one some of my settings were presumably synced to it from the cloud. I'm suspicious that might somehow be part of the issue.
