Hi Renee Anderson1,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
Based on the description you posted, you have an issue with You have a Surface Pro 9 wherein rear camera stop working. This may be caused by the driver is corrupted or the hardware on the rear camera.
Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue. Please follow these steps:
- Run the automated camera troubleshooter in the Get Help app. You can access the app by pressing the Windows key and typing “Get Help” in the search bar. The troubleshooter will diagnose and fix most camera issues
- Check if the camera is enabled in the privacy settings**. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera,** and make sure that Camera access and Let apps access your camera are set to On
- Go to the Start menu and type "Device Manager" in the search bar.
- Click on "Device Manager" to open it.
- Look for the "Cameras" category and click on the arrow to expand it.
- Right-click on the rear-facing camera and select "Uninstall device." But do not put any check mark on the small box that say complete delete. Just click okay below.
- Once the device is uninstalled, click on the "Action" menu at the top of the Device Manager window and select "Scan for hardware changes." Or restart the Surface device to apply changes.
- Windows will automatically detect the camera and reinstall the driver.
Another way is to refresh the camera driver.
- Press Windows button + X then select device manager.
- Then click on system devices> then scroll down and right click the Surface rear camera then select uninstall and do not put any check mark on the small box that say complete delete. Just click uninstall then click okay below.
- Then restart the Surface to apply changes.
If the still persists, and when you go to device manager the rear camera driver is missing. We willReset the Surface device back to defaultsince the camera driver is come with the Windows 11 on this device.
I hope this helps resolve your issue. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Christopher.
