I am using Windows 7 Professional. I tried to install Guitar Pro 6 on my PC. This software needs Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable to run. But, this installation gives following error.

Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly. Microsoft.VC80.MFC.type='win32'.version='8.0.50727.4053',publickeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86".

After this error, Windows update is also not working.

Thanks Segundo N. Campero for providing solution. My problem was solved.

    Please refer to the following:

I had the same problem installing Corel X5.

The problem was solved by starting the Trustedinstaller Service. Same programmes (as ArcGIS) during the installation inactive the service and avoid automatic restart it.

Is posible that the service Trustedinstaller do not appear in service list. So you should change the registre value to "active" in the system register.

    To do this, you should:

    1. In Windows, click Start > Run...
    2. In the Run window, type 'regedit'. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control.
    3. In the 'Registry Editor' dialog box, double-click on 'RegistrySizeLimit'. This opens the 'Edit DWORD Value' dialog box.
    4. In the 'Edit DWORD Value' dialog box, enter ffffffff as the 'Hexadecimal' value. Click on the 'Decimal' radio button, and enter 4294967295 as the 'Decimal' value. Click OK.
    5. Reboot the machine.
    6. Log in as an Administrator and open a Command Prompt and run 'SFC /SCANNOW'.

    (Procces was taken from: http://resources.arcgis.com/es/content/kbase?fa=articleShow&d=37477)

After the proces is completed, re-install the programme which showed you problems to install.

I hope you found solution with this comment.

    Hi sgtbluebunny,

since every piece of software you install uses some version of that dll or c++ package, it's it's either corrupted or gone or maybe messed up in registry.

Save yourself some time...format and reinstall. It will cost you a couple hours, but save head-aches in the long run.

However, you can always go over to the Technet forums and post there.

This error may occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.

Try the below step to reinstall and repair the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer and later check if you can install the software.

    a) Click the Start button, click  Control Panel, click Programs, and then click "Turn Windows features on or off." If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    b) Locate Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1, uncheck the box, click OK and restart the computer.

    c) After the restart again open "Turn Windows features on or off" and place  a check mark next to Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1 and restart the computer.

If the above step fails then I would suggest that you manually download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 Redistributable Package and check if you can install the software.

In Programs and Features, do you show that you have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable? If not, download from the links here.

This still is not helping. I cannot see anything in "Turn Windows features on or off."

It just shows a blank window.

And when I tried to install "Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package for (X86)" from the link you send me, it still gives an error.
