Greetings. I am an independent contractor of sorts who runs a small business (1 employee, myself). For my work I do not use office products such as word or excel but I do use paint and gimp. These two latter programs seeming both allow commercial use. My question is this. I use a licensed copy of windows 10 pro. Can I use the windows fonts for commercial use such as in a video file, on a t-shirt, or in a business logo? Previous replies to similar questions stated that the font files could not be embedded (I am not redistributing the fonts, merely using their appearance in commercial documents). However, a line from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/fonts/font-faqstates
“Can I sell things I print from Windows or make using these printouts, say a book, logo, advertisement, report, t-shirt, or crafts that use fonts that come with Windows?
Unless you are using an application that is specifically licensed for home, student, or non-commercial use, we do not restrict you from selling the things you print and make using the Windows-supplied fonts.”
I am a bit confused about the wording. By “application specifically licensed for home, student, or non-commercial use” is the text referring to office products or the version of windows? Am I fine to use windows supplied fonts such as “Arial” in commercial products with windows 10 pro, or do I need to upgrade to a different version of windows (and if so, which one)?
