i can see other PCs and devices on my home network listed under NETWORK in file explorer, but when i select them i get error stating network is not present or not started ?

My PC recently updated to windows 11 and since then ive lost the ability to connect to any of my other network shares or devices , even though i can see them in file explorer. when i select the device like another PC or my NAS device it says \DEVICENAME is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. contact administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. the network is not present or not started.

now these devices are up and running and sharing mount points etc , i can access them from other NON windows 11 pcs in my house but since this pc updated to win 11 i cant connect. Any idea how to resolve this as i cant upgrade anything else unless this is fixed.

thanks

Ok, check if the workstation service is started

    1. Open Start>Run and type “Services.msc” ( without quotes ) and press OK.
    2. Locate the service named Workstation.
    3. Right Click on the workstation service and select properties.
    4. Click on the Start button to start the service.

Then, type these commands from terminal as admin

    cmd

    sc qc bowser

    sc qc mrxsmb

    sc qc NSI

    dir c:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\bowser.sys

    dir c:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\mrxsmb20.sys

    net start bowser

    net start mrxsmb

    net start NSI

I read thru that and i did step 8

as mine is win 11 home. but doesn't seem to have done anything , when i click on any of the devices i see under NETWORK ( one of my NAS drives, or another PC) i get that same error. When i do that on any of my other PCs that are not win 11, it will come up with a login box asking for account to access the network device and i can put in the user name and pw and it gives me access but from this pc it just comes up with that error i listed originally. any other ideas ?

    thanks

ok, open explorer and type the UNC address in the address bar, like this

    \computername\sharedfolder

    OR

    \192.168.1.XXX\sharedfolder

where instead the IP put the local IP of the computer

let me know if in this way you can access to the folder
