How to fix "Some of your fonts cannot be saved with the presentation"?

When I open my presentation and make any change, then save, Powerpoint presents this error:

I think the problem is that I copied a chart with an embedded font from a Windows Powerpoint presentation.  Since I'm using Powerpoint v16 on the Mac, embedded fonts are not allowed.  

I have tried opening the file as text and searching for the fonts, but that didn't work, nor did substituting the font globally.  I do not need a particular font, I just need to edit and save my presentation.  

Any suggestions for a fix?

    I found a fix by switching off the option to embed fonts, visible on the attached screenshot

    Save as > Browse > Tools button > Save options > Embed fonts

    You will need to do following to locate the culprit.

    Copy first slide into a new ppt and try to save.

    Now remove first slide from this new ppt and copy the second slide.

    Do it for all other slides till you find the culprit slide. Then you can zero down on the problem.

    This has been happening to me with several different PPT presentation files, which makes manually going through each and checking each slide for the culprit difficult. It is almost always "Proxima Nova" I am told "cannot be saved with the presentation." I try changing all the fonts to something else, and I keep getting the same message, on multiple files. Is there a fix to make this stop happening? It is making powerpoint almost unusable on my Mac because it keeps happening.
