Programdata is a protected system folder which contains all data and configuration of the programs that your PC has, the purpose is keeping safe that data and avoid possible risks to delete it.

ProgramData focuses on storing all the generic information of the applications, information that all users can access by default.

For example Antivirus will save your database and settings in this directory, this folder can be found in the dirve C:\ or you can enter %programdata% in the address bar of the Windows Explorer.

Sorry, but I was talking about "%LocalAppData%\Programs" not ProgramData. Here's a picture of this folder:

Thanks for posting Microsoft Community. I'm Marcos Independent Advisor.

AppData is the folder where Windows saves all the configuration information of the applications installed on your computer, having one for each of the users that you have created.

It is to protect user data and settings from any unwanted change or deletion. It contains many important data such as: program settings, IE cookies, IE browsing history, temporary files created by applications.

If you need another question please let me know for further assistance

    Regards.

    Hello,

I was wondering what the purpose of the Programs folder is in %localappdata%, not the AppData folder in general.

Sorry for delay to answer the question.

To clarify your doubt about what is "%localappdata%\Programs"

Inside the Local Folder in appdata you can see files with data and setting, Sometimes you can look at the Local folder, and odds are you'll see a folder for every program you've installed to specific user, The apps that create folders under Local, Programs contains data information as logs or setting of these programs stored there.

It{s important those information that Folder contains because you can use it in any issue that you have with apps or Programs.
