Hey there,
I have an HP Pavilion G4-2419se Notebook PC that cannot detect my internal webcam and microphone. The laptop originally came with Windows 7, but I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 64-bit back in November 2012. From November to January I did not use the webcam or microphone and had disabled them in the device manager. When I enabled them, they did not function. The status said that the device was working properly. I left the issue alone for a bit, thinking this would solve itself after maybe a few shutdowns. A week or two later I opened up device manager again. I did not see the tab for the webcam under imaging devices. Both devices (cam and mic) had been hidden. The status now told me that the device(s) were not connected to the computer(Code 45). I again put this problem aside. When I tried again, the devices disappeared altogether and are now listed as unknown devices.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry for the late reply. I tried both of the methods but nothing changed. A couple days ago, I used the Refresh Your PC option in the PC Settings menu. Now in my device manager, there are only two unknown devices: PCI device and unknown device. Now there is a little Alert symbol next to the devices.
Thanks for the help.
Hi Liz,
Let us follow these methods and check.
Method 1:
First of all I would suggest you to run the fix it for hardware not getting detected and check.
Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware\_device\_problems/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0
Method 2:
I would suggest you to go to the manufacturer’s website to download the webcam drivers and audio drivers for Windows 8. Go to the following link and then click on scan now button which will tell you about the required drivers and install them. But if it does not detect the required drivers, then download the webcam drivers available under Software-Multimedia category and the audio drivers and install them. Here is the link for your reference.
Do get back to us with the results. We would be happy to help you further.
