There are two folders that can be cleaned-up. Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type temp and press Enter. Delete everything that appears (Ctrl +A will select them all. There may be a few obstinate files that cannot be deleted, just skip them). Repeat the command for the other folder using %temp% in place of temp.

    EDIT

I only gave you two folders, remove these as well. Go to Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files and remove those that appear in the left pane.

Hello JayneWilliamson0704, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Bruno Leonel, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

Below are the recommended processes for cleaning Windows temporary files.

On the Desktop, press the Windows + R hotkeys simultaneously to open Run.

Now type TEMP and click OK.

The TEMP folder will open, please permanently delete all files inside the folder, if some files are not deleted it will be normal as they may be in use.

Again simultaneously press the Windows + R shortcut keys to open Run.

    Type %TEMP% and click OK.

The %TEMP% folder will be opened, please permanently delete all files inside the folder, if some files are not deleted it will be normal as they may be in use.

Simultaneously press the Windows + R hotkeys to open Run.

    Type PREFETCH and click OK.

The PREFETCH folder will be opened, please permanently delete all files inside the folder, if some files are not deleted it will be normal as they may be in use.

Note: You will not be able to delete some files that will be running, and a window will appear stating that the file cannot be deleted, click skip this file and continue cleaning the folder.

Different locations you can access which contains temporary files:

    1. temp (there's a folder with a random name in this location. You can delete it only if your device is activated.)
    2. %temp%
    3. prefetch (contains a file which can only be deleted after booting into Safe mode.)
    4. recent (contains recently used app / documents shortcuts, size ranges from 1KB-5KB.)

You can access them by typing these commands into the Run dialogue box (press Win key + R).
