Ethernet not recognized

I have had this happen twice now (first time I dont know how i fixed it).

I'm running:

Windows 10 Pro x64

Intel i5-7600k

Asus 1060 3gb

My computer is not recognizing that my ethernet cable is plugged in. It's a brand new cable, I've done all the troubleshooting that I have found on the web. The first time this happened, it was right after a windows update. This time, it was after a nvidia driver update.

After doing everything, I did the last thing i wanted to do, factory reset. Now I'm sitting here with a blank slate of a PC and still no internet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you plugged into a router and is it on.  Is there a network set up in the router?

    .

Have you gone Settings, Network & Internet, Ethernet?

Hi lvl6ix, my name is Felipe Lucas, Independent Advisor and Microsoft Windows user like you.

I'll be happy to help you.

First, are you able to test the cable in another computer? Just to rule out the possibility of cable issue.

Also, try to reset the Ethernet Adapter:

    1. Press Windows Key + I to open Settings then click on the Network & Internet icon.
    2. From the left-hand menu click on Status.
    3. Now under Status scroll down to bottom and click on Network reset link.
    4. On the Network reset page, click on “Reset now” button.
    5. Now again try to connect the Ethernet with PC and see if you’re able to Fix Ethernet Not Working in Windows 10.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I have done this already and still nothing. I've also uninstalled the driver, restarted PC, and that didn't work either. Also did all the ipconfig stuff in CMD.

    Good Day Lvl6ix,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, what is the exact model of your computer for me to check the updated Ethernet driver from your manufacturers website.

For the meantime here's the steps you can try.

-Try to plug the Ethernet cable using other pc for us to check if the issue is with the Ethernet cable or the pc itself.

If the Ethernet cable works with other pc proceed with the steps below.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Network Adapter

-Look for Ethernet driver that was installed

    -Right click and Update

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

    -Restart

Check if your can now connect.

If issue persist, let's download and install the updated Ethernet driver from your manufacturers website.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    With Warm Regards,

    Carlo T.
