Windows 11: Network Printer does not print

I am unable to print on a network printer from any app under Windows 11. I have looked at several articles on the internet, included solutions on the Microsoft community, but to no avail. Here are some details about the issue:

  1. The Printer is a Samsung Xpress M2675F
  2. I am running Windows 11 22H2 build SO 22621.963
  3. I have updated the printer driver to the latest version
  4. Windows sees the printer as being online and I can access the network share where the printer is located, and open the print queue for the printer (which is empty).
  5. There is no error when I try print a document. The Document seems to be sent to the spooler: it appears in the print queue for a few instants and then it disappears as if it had been sent to the printer. But the process fails silently.
  6. I have tried disabling the firewall, but this didn't solve the issue.
  7. I have run the printer troubleshooter, but it doesn't find any problems.
  8. I have removed all printers from Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, restarted the computer and re-added the printer, but no.
  9. If I connect the printer to a USB port with a cable, making it a local printer with the same driver, printing works with no problems.
  10. I have another computer with Windows 11 21H2 which has no issues printing to the network printer. I am starting to think that an update might have hosed printing, but I don't really want to start uninstalling updates one by one, as I don't want to unnecessarily uninstall updates that might be important/useful.

Any ideas?

22H2 is a user instigated update and not a win auto update, if it was Ok prior to installing this then roll back that update

Ive assumed you installed the fullfeature software from that printer maker and connected it as instructed.

Do Not Use Device manager to update drivers

Most printers with a touchscreen: From the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

Most inkjet printers without a touchscreen: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power button flashes, and then wait for the Wireless light to flash.

Open Samsung Printer Diagnostics on your computer, if it is not already open.

    Select Setting up Wireless printing.

Turn on the printer as prompted.

    Select the printer.

Samsung Printer Diagnostics checks whether the printer supports the wireless function. The Select a wireless printer screen displays if the printer supports the wireless function and more than one wireless printer is detected.

Press the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on the printer control panel.

When you do this, the software proceeds to the next step. (If you don’t press the WPS button within two minutes, a Retry button appears.)

Follow any additional onscreen instructions to complete the configuration. Otherwise, check whether you are prompted to connect a USB cable.

If the printer does not support the wireless function, or if the method using a direct wireless connection failed, you are prompted to plug in a USB cable. The method using a USB cable starts automatically. Follow these steps if you are prompted to connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable.

Connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable.

    Select the wireless network.

On this screen, the wireless networks retrieved from the connected printer are listed. Only infrastructure mode wireless networks are detected. Click the Refresh button to view the wireless networks, and then select your wireless network.

Enter wireless network security credentials if prompted.

The wireless network security screen displays if the selected wireless network is a secured network.

If the security of the selected wireless network is WEP, the installer enables the Next button when you enter a network password of 5, 10, 13 or 26 characters.

If the security is WPA, the installer enables the Next button when you enter a password that is more than 8 characters and fewer than 63 characters.

    Wait while the connection completes.

If the wireless setup is successful, the Wireless Network Setting Complete screen displays and includes the Printer Settings information.

Also, ensure that there is paper in the printer, and let me know whether it works and if you have any other questions so I can assist you further. Thank you very much

    Hi Prosper,

thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. Unfortunately, I don't think the instructions will help address my issue:

    1. Although I am connected to the network through a wireless AP, the printer does not support Wireless connections (it's a Samsung Xpress M2675F). The printer is connected through a USB port to a network appliance (which also provides storage), which in turn is on a wired connection.
    2. Connecting the printer directly to the computer through the USB port won't help, as printing works fine when the printer is on a local USB port.
    3. I don't have the printer's installation CD, so I can't install Samsung Printer Diagnostics (which is not downloadable from hp's support site). I have downloaded HP Print and Scan Doctor. But it doesn't find the printer on the network.
