i am having the same issue, when i went through your steps nothing worked. on step 5. 'disabling hands free' i couldn't right click on the airpods to select property's. I even tried to go into the Device Manager list and select my paired airpods there, but i still couldn't find the setting to disable hands free.

regardless if that is even the issue. my airpods will connect and i can hear the windows connect notification through the airpods but no audio from videos would play, and after a few seconds it would disconnect. I also checked to make sure windows was using the airpods as a output audio device in the bottom right of the windows task bar. Still nothing.

    Hello,

I am not sure if this would help. Similar issue was seen on my PC and I tried the following

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications -> Select Option "Do Nothing"

After following the above I was able to connect the Airpods Pro 2 and does not disconnect anymore and the audio also works fine.

PS : Also once it is connected I selected back the previous option ("Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%") as is, seems like this does not impact the connection any more and everything works fine.

    Hi BeauPritchard,

    I'm Amr, an independent advisor.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your AirPods Pro 2 on your Windows.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check the Bluetooth connection

Make sure your AirPods are properly paired with your PC. If they're already paired, try unpairing and then re-pairing them.

    1. Update your Bluetooth drivers

Outdated or corrupted Bluetooth drivers can cause connection issues. You can update your Bluetooth drivers from the Device Manager.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upd...

    1. Reset your AirPods

Sometimes, resetting your AirPods can help resolve connection issues. To reset your AirPods, put them in their case and close the lid. Wait for about 30 seconds, then open the lid. Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the status light flashes amber a few times and then finally flashes white.

    1. Check the audio output

Make sure your PC is set to use your AirPods as the audio output device.

You can check this in the Sound settings.

    1. Disable the Hands-free Telephony service

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your AirPods and select Properties.

Go to the Services tab and uncheck the Hands-free Telephony option.

    1. Update your PC

Make sure your PC is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates.

If none of these steps works, it is better to contact Apple Support to help you with the issue.

I hope this is helpful. If you require any additional assistance, don't hesitate to respond to this.

I have been struggling with this problem for months. Today i was finally able to get a stable and good working connection with my Airpods Pro 2 to a MS Surface running Windows 11.

I believe the solution is to first pair with your Windows machine and than to your iPhone. A reset of my Airpods en pairing in this order solved the problem for me.

When discovering for bluetooth devices after the Airpods have been paired to my iPhone they show a name "AirPods Pro of Paul - find my". Discovering before paired to my phone they show up as "AirPods Pro of Paul". I think something changes in the bluetooth profile when the iPhone is the first device to pair which is incompatible with the way Windows handles bluetooth connections. I'm guessing this is actually a workaround, not a solution to the problem.
