Excel 2013 Opens In Extreme Minimized Window

Let me assist you with the issue related to Excel 2013.

In order to troubleshoot the issue, you may try the steps below:

Open Excel, resize the window by dragging the double ended arrow which appears in the corner of the application and also move it by dragging it by the title bar, close and re-open Excel and verify the result.

Hi, Tony have you tried dragging the Excel window to upper most corner ? This allows the window to maximize at full screen.  Otherwise you can try the following steps - 

When you first open the sheet that you cannot see, use this key combination to maximize the sheet: 

<Ctrl>+<F10> 

That is hold down the <Ctrl> key and then press <F10> key. 

Your sheet will maximize.

I had the same problem, and found the solution:

When you open an Excel 2013 file, then two windows appear (your file, and a blank file)

The trick is to drag-resize the blank file (not the opened file).

So do this:

1. Open an Excel file,
2. Close it
3. Click on Excel that is still open (should be a small tab)
4. Resize it to a viewable size
5. Close it

After you done that, you can repeat the steps, but instead of resizing it, you can maximise the empty tab, then close it.

Now, if you open an Excel file, it will open maximised, and if you "Restore Down", then it will be in a viewable size (not a mini tab)

I had the same issue when ever I clicked on the restore down on the excel window.  Not much help on the internet about this problem.  Eventually after playing around with excel enough I found a solution that worked for me and has not come back since.

This is how it looked for me and this is what I did.

• Right click on the middle section.
• Go down to size and select.
• You will get the directional arrow image for a mouse.
• Click and hold to re-size the window.

Whatever size I re-sized it to is the size it goes back to when I click the restore down button.  If its launching it like that for you then in settings there is an option to start the program in full screen mode as well.

I have tried dragging to various positions.  I just tried <Ctrl>+<F10> and that does maximize it.  But the problem is that I shouldn't have to do that every time just to see the sheet.

I just tried it again and the sheet opened up completely off of the screen.  I couldn't even see it in the minimized state shown in the attachment above. The Excel icon was in the taskbar, and I had to manipulate by right-clicking and trying to get the sheet to expand and show on the screen at all.
