Hello,

I have been using AUTOCAD LT 2017 on my Surface Book Windows 10 Pro i7 8.0 GB 64 Bit for almost 7 month with zero issues and suddenly after the anniversary update I cannot use F8 anymore...

I am having issues with the F8 Command (Ortho) freezing or taking along time to respond (60 plus seconds). If I use the ortho icon in the bottom tool bar it responds instantly with no lag. Please help I use this key 5-10 per min or at least I use to...

Issue

AutoCAD freezes or stalls when you turn Ortho mode on, possibly by pressing the F8 key.

Cause

This issue seems to be resulting from a Windows 10 update.

Solution

You can resolve this issue easily with a quick toggle of the Temp Overrides system variable.

Type "TempOverrides" in the Command line, and press Enter.

When prompted to enter a value, type 0 and press Enter. You should now be able to turn Ortho mode on without freezing AutoCAD.

Have you contacted AutoCAD about this or checked for an update to the software?  It may well have been broken by the Anniversary update, but could be an AutoCAD software problem.

I just checked out, it seems they know there is a problem. I worked around one way.
