Is it safe to turn off Bitlocker?
For some reason, my computer starts up Bitlocker every time it restarts or shuts down; I have the recovery key but it's always a pain to type. I was wondering if it's safe to just turn off Bitlocker. I've been thinking about doing it but I still want to keep my files safe.

Yes, you can turn it off. If your computer is used at home, it is safe. Bitlocker protects when the hardware is changed, or when your computer is stolen, it is impossible to take the hard disk out and plug it into another computer to get the files.
If that's a concern, turn it off, an then turn it back on, see if it still keeps asking for it. When you turn it back on, it should generate a new key. This key should be stored on the local TPM chip, and it really shouldn't ask you for it every time. It should only ask when a trigger event happens, such as hardware change, BIOS update, or repeatedly wrong pin/password entries.
