Excel Links issue

I have a Worksheet with links that point to Sheets in the current Workbook, as well I have links that point to folders that are subfolders of the folder this document resides in.

Excel is changing the links to the subfolders.when I close and reopen Excel and they don't work anymore.

Original link: Effects\Lovell

Changed link: C:\Users\fbcar\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Effects\Lovell

I read that if I go into File | Info |Show All Properties| Hyperlink Base and put in the Base as the Folder and Drive my document is stored in (R:\Stuff) this should fix this problem. Which it does.

But when it does all the links to the Documents sheets break and point to a non-existent folders instead of the sheet.

How do I fix this.

  1. In Excel, open the File menu and select the options
  2. In the Options, select 'Advanced'. Scroll down to the general section
  3. Select the 'Web Options' button
  4. In the Web Options dialog box, select the 'Files' tab
  5. Deselect 'Update Links on Save'
