Huge FPS drop after a driver (?) update

Hello. I'm not sure if its the right place to ask so sorry in advance.

After recently updating my NVIDIA Drivers to the newest version i have experienced a huge fps drop in all games. (Note that i also updated windows the same day so that may be the cause as well, it wasnt the big update however because 2004 is not yet available for me, just some smaller ones ). At first i thought it may be caused by the new drivers being bad so i rolled back to older drivers time and time again , however it did not help. Tried setting the games to use only High performance GPU with no positive result either andalso tried changing settings to Maximum performance and lowest quality but that also did not help. I even tried a clean nvidia reinstall using DDU, and installing drivers that i knew worked perfectly but even that did nothing. I'm completely out of options and have no idea what might be causing those Issues. Any help would be appreciated.

My processor is Intel i5 7300 with integrated HD graphics 620

My GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050

My system version is Windows 10 1903 OS build 18362.959

Alright so rolling back to manufacturer driver slightly decreased performance while also obviously getting rid of some useful nvidia functions. Therefore i think its safe to assume that updating drivers with nvidia experience is fine. Some other things ive noticed that the PC gradually loses the fps, not the moment i start. For example i can start with 60 fps and it'll drop to 20 in like 10 mins. Considering it started to be hot over here and my pc seems to be getting hotter than it used to it may be that internal fan is clogged with dust ? Since i cant see any other solution ill check the fan and clean it and if the problem still persists ill take it to service to diagnose if the hardware isnt damaged.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you get FPS drop after a driver update on the computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    • Does the issue occur with one particular game or all the games?
    • What is the make and model of the computer?

Since there was a Windows Update and as you have already tried rolling back and reinstalling the Graphics drivers, I would suggest you to try performing a System Restore on the computer and check if that helps.

To perform a system restore, refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows logo key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run
    2. In Run dialog box, type rstrui and hit Enter.
    3. On the System Restore window click on Next
    4. Now select a System Restore point that is nearest to the date/time of the day when the changes were made.
    5. Click on Next and click on Finish.

Note: Restoring your PC won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

For more information, see the section Restore from a system restore point from the article Restore from a system restore point

Let us know how it goes.

Sounds like you have a laptop. (you should have said what model) You must get drivers from the original manufacturer. Laptop drivers are rarely if ever updated. You have the same motherboard with all the same hardware integrated on it. Reinstall your original drivers that were customized for your exact motherboard. Download them from the original manufacturer's web site.

I did not try system restore but after checking the update was to windows defender and sound drivers so its very unlikely its caused by this.

The issue seemingly occurs with all games.

I've also tried a userbenchmark test, here are the results and PC model https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/30790013
