Microsoft has the following webpage which automatically determine whether a PC runs on x64 or x86 based windows version.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/827218.

This webpage detects x86 version on my PC. But while opening my system details through control panel, it shows that the system type is x64.

which one is correct?

I would like to know whether my PC runs on x86 or x64 based operating system?

thx

raj

Right click This PC and click properties. Then What you see against operating system Architecture?

Somewhat like 32 bit Operating system,64 bit processor?

If it says 32 bit then your OS is X86 otherwise X64

    Hi,

In Windows 7 > you click the Start Orb in far left of the Taskbar > in start menu window that pops up you then right click on Computer > select Properties > under System > System type it tells you what bit version you have installed.

32 bit is same as x86

    Cheers.

    Yep I'd trust the reading

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/827218

What you might be seeing is your system is capable of running 64 bit

My laptop say that and it is running 32 bit.

Beside the already suggested ways not the This PC one though that is win-10 :p

If you open windows explorer and expand C Drive

If you see a x86 folder you would be using 64 bit

If you only see Programs folder then you're using 32 bit.
