Windows Search Indexer uses a lot of CPU while on battery, killing battery life

Hi,

I'm investigating an issue where the battery life on my Acer Predator 17 laptop has become ridiculously short.

One of the culprit is the Windows Search Indexer, that often is the top CPU consumer, even while running on battery:

Strangely enough, the indexer status reports that it should pause while running on battery:

Note that this is not a domain-joined machine, but a private computer, so I don't understand this message about an IT-set group policy.

How do I fix this?

There must be a way, even on a "private" computer, to tell the search indexer it should pause or at least throttle when running on battery.

    Thanks for the link.

But it seems Microsoft and I don't have the same definition of "pause when running on battery":
