Office 365 Mail Templates - Add-Ins

There have been a few questions asked about templates in OWA but most seem to be a year or more ago so I am starting a new thread.

We switched to Office365 a few months ago.

I need to use templates. I have read about Manage Add-ins, but that option is not available to me.

The templates icon at the bottom right of the New Mail screen appears intermittently like once a month and I am unable to determine why or how.

I have turned off all browser plug ins and popups in case they prevent the template icon from appearing.

I also have a shared mailbox and the templates have NEVER appeared in the shared mailbox.

I am running windows 7 Pro, with a chrome browser.

Can anyone advise why the templates option only appears intermittently, and how can I make it a permanent feature on my email settings?

Thank you

    Hi Michael ,

Thank you for the reply . Please make us know the latest information after the test .

For the second question , according to my test and research , if you open shared mailbox by clicking “open another mailbox” on the right corner , the add-ins will not show up . If I open shared mailbox from here , the add-ins appear .

Please right click on the primary folder and click “Add shared folder…” to add shared mailbox to OWA and try again .

Besides , may I confirm does it happen to all the accounts or just your account ? If it happens to just one account , please ask your admin to check the settings in the last reply or recreate a account and try again .

    Best regards ,

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

    Thank you for the update.

I have since logged out, cleared browser history, and then logged back in.

    And tried on multiple occasions.

The Manage Add-ins option is still not available to me.

    Hi Michael ,

Thank you for the reply .

May I offer you some other suggestions ?

1 . Please try to empty the cache and close My Template and reopen it .

2 . Try to turn on some other Add-Ins to see if they can appear .

3 . If it still fails , please reinstall the plugin and try again .

Hope this can help you .

    Best regards ,

    Rick

    Thank you for your reply.

I have tried IE 11, FF 56 and Private Mode and the templates option does not appear.

When I click the settings wheel, there is no option to Manage Add-ins as per your linked article.

I have tried opening my Personal mail box first, to see if the add-ins are available, and thereafter opened the shared mailbox.

Then I tried opening the shared mailbox and followed by the option "Open another mailbox" to open my personal mail.

With either option, the add-ins or the Manage Add-ins option is not available.

But I am less concerned about the Shared Mailbox for now.

    FYI.

My colleague can access the add-ins on his personal mailbox without any difficulty. But if I log in to my personal email account on his machine, then the add-ins are still not available to me. If he logs into his personal mail on my pc, then he still has his add-ins and templates.

It suggests to me that it must be an issue with the settings on my mail account, but I am quite sure I have checked all the obvious options, and our IT administrator assures me the accounts were all created the same and he has not used any special settings for either of our accounts that will give varied results.

    Thank you again.

    Hi Michael ,

Thank you for the posting . For more information about Add-Ins in OWA , please refer to this link : https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Using-Add-ins-in-Outlook-on-the-web-8f2ce816-5df4-44a5-958c-f7f9d6dabdce#bkmk_manageaddins

From your description , please try these ways for troubleshooting :

1 . Try to use IE (IE 11) or other browser to see whether My template button can appear permanently .

2 . Try to use the Private Mode of Chrome or other browser .

3 . May I know how you opened the shared mailbox ? According to my research and test , I find that we cannot use Add-ins when opening mailboxes like shared mailboxes and user mailboxes by clicking “Open another mailbox” in the upper right corner . Given the situation ,I’d like to invite you to submit feedback via this link : https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/264636-general/

Hope this can help you .

    Best regards ,

    Rick
