Windows Media Player doesn't play sound

First, I would suggest you to try playing the files through the built-in Music app to check if the issue is with Windows Media player or the Audio device. Music does play with the Music app.

The troubleshooter couldn't find a problem.

I tried updating my Audio driver but that didn't work.

If the Music app is able to play the .mp3 files, then it means that the computer is able to play the files and there is no issues with the audio. The issue could be caused due to some incorrect settings in the Windows Media player. You have mentioned that the troubleshooter didn’t detect any incorrect settings. In this case, I would suggest you to turn off the Windows Media player and then turn it back and check. Refer to these steps:

1. Press Windows key + X, click on ‘Programs and features’.
2. Click on ‘Turn Windows features ON or OFF’ in the left pane.
3. Uncheck the box against Windows Media player in the ‘media features’ section.
4. Restart the computer of prompted.
5. Follow the same steps and check the box against Windows Media player to turn it back ON.

I have already tried that but I tried it again now and Windows Media Player still doesn't play audio.

Any more suggestions??????
