Language bar missing from taskbar

My language is MIA. I have at least 5 languages installed, and I have followed all the directions, and I have checked the forums, but it is still missing! I'm finding it very frustrating as I wish to type in Japanese and Farsi, and I need the toolbar for that.

Here is the standard procedure given:

If the Language bar isn't listed in the Toolbars menu, you don't have multiple input languages installed on your computer. You need to add additional languages using Region and Language in Control Panel.

Follow the steps mentioned below to add an input language:

1. Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Region and Language.

2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

3. Under Installed services, click Add.

4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click Keyboard, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

Q: I have added multiple languages (English UK, Chinese Simplified, Japanese), language bar still did not appear on taskbar

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar. For more information about the language bar, refer the article below for more info:

Q:Another person resolved this problem by changing the language bar settings from 'hidden' to 'dock in taskbar'. Mine was never hidden, but I changed and changed it back - nothing happened! In fact, I can't actually remember ever having seen the language bar! Somebody please  help!

**Solution:Method 1 (if you know this method, try the second method) –**You can add the Language bar in control panel by following steps,

Go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Option -> Keyboards and Languages -> press Change Keyboards..

The following dialog box will be appeared,

Note: Language bar will be displayed either on taskbar or Desktop , only if you selected more than one language as input language.

Make sure your second language is listed in the input language list. If not you can add it by pressing Add button.

Here you can select where the language bar should be appeared or hidden. Make sure ‘Hidden’ is not selected. Select the appropriate option and press OK.

If you cannot see the language bar in vista or Windows 7 computer after above all settings are correct. Here is the tricky part and try this.

Method 2

This method will enable the startup service required for language bar, when your all settings are correct as mentioned above.

Go to Registry editor by typing ‘ regedit’ in Run dialog box. Go to the following location,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Right Click on blank space in right side, select New String Value.

Again right click on newly created value and press modify, then type as below.

“ctfmon”=”CTFMON.EXE”

Press OK, restart your computer. Now you can see the language bar in vista or Windows 7.

Try the following:

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Go into the Regional and Language Options
  • Open the Languages tab and click Details
  • Go to Advanced, make sure the 2 boxes are unchecked (uncheck them if they are checked).
  • Open the Settings tab and click on Language Bar
  • Check the box: Show the Language bar on the desktop
  • Confirm with OK.

2:-

The Language bar appears only if profiles are two or more keyboard installed

To install a different keyboard configuration, is in

"Control Panel"> "Regional and Language Options" then in the "Languages" tab, then click "Details"

You can click the "Add" and select a profile keyboard, any one, for example "French (Belgium)" or "French (Canada)" then click "Apply" and the Language bar will appear near your clock.

Otherwise, if you use a keyboard layout, the Language bar disappears, and only serves to change the keyboard layout.

3:-

To show the Language bar (using Classic view in Control Panel):

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and

Language Options.

  1. On the Languages tab, under Text services and input languages, click

Details.

  1. Under Preferences, click Language Bar.
  2. Select the Show the Language bar on the desktop check box.

goto control panel >language options >keyboard and language options>change keyboard>language bar(second tab)>select integrated into taskbar

    If not...Make sure ctfmon.exe is running you can do this by pressing ctrl+shift+esc to open your task manager and clicking the process' tab. If it isn't running that's your problem just click start and type ctfmon.exe it should show up in your search, press enter to start it.

    If you look at my question, I have written that I have already done this. My settings are "dock in task bar". I changed them and changed them back but my language bar is still missing!

    Hi,

    I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps:

    1. Go to Control Panel and open Regional and Language Options.
    2. Click on the tab Keyboards and Languages.
    3. Click Change Keyboards, and then click on Language Bar.
    4. Check if the option "Docked in taskbar" is checked.
    5. If not click on it and select it and check if it helps.
