WiFi Automatic connect options

Greetings, I am running Windows 11 and have issue with WiFi connect defaults. I want to prevent any/all "auto" connections. There is a checkbox, that when I uncheck it, it reverts to automatic, even after reboots. Again I am trying to boot w/o auto connecting to WiFi. Even when I disconnect, close, and reboot, it automatically connects. Thanks for any assist. biv

    Hello Echobiv, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you want to disable automatic WI-FI connection in Windows 11;

    Initially I suggest you try the following;

    Access the Control Panel;

    Click on Network and Internet;

    Click on Network and sharing center;

    Click Change adapter settings in the left pane;

    Double-click on the Wi-Fi connection you are currently using;

    Click Wireless Properties;

    On the Connection tab, uncheck "Automatically connect when this network is in range" click OK;

    Make sure the computer still automatically connects to WiFi when starting;

    I hope I have helped, see you soon!

    Hi Echobiv ,

    are you talking about your home Wi-Fi network or even all the Wi-Fi networks available in the list? Clarify better.

    If you can't have access to all the other Wi-Fi networks on the list, changing that checkbox alone has no effect. In order to change the status of those check boxes, you need to access the wireless properties of those networks. You can do it? If you can't do it, neither can your pc and therefore it will never connect to those networks.

    Franco

    My concern is if the other wireless network (not mine) is unlocked and their box on my machine is checked to connect automatically, will my machine do so.

    Luiz, I am now looking at network properties windows and none of the boxes are checked. I then uncheck the box in the window that shows all networks with range, including my network, disconnect, then reboot, and the machine continues to connect automatically.

    I guess in order to prevent my machine from automatically connecting I must turn off the WiFi before rebooting.

    Hi Echobiv ,

    In Network and Internet Settings> Wi-Fi> Manage Known Networks, delete all network profiles except yours.

    Then search for Hotspot 2.0 and make sure it's turned off. Go to Network Connections, right click on your Wi-Fi connection> Status> Wireless Properties> Connection tab, keep only the first checkbox enabled: Automatically connect when the network is in the computer field, uncheck the other boxes. Access Device Manager, expand network adapters, select your Wi-Fi adapter> Advanced tab, search for Wireless Roaming and set it to minimum or disable it.
