"New Outlook" Sync Contacts with Gmail

Is it possible to sync contacts between the "New Outlook" and the Gmail contacts? My calendar syncs perfectly between the two but if I add a new contact in Outlook it won't sync to my Gmail contacts and if I add a contact from my Gmail it won't sync to Outlook.

Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this not possible yet? Any way to make this work?

I did add my Gmail account to the new Outlook successfully and that portion has been working flawlessly. It's even keeping my calendars in sync with Gmail automatically which the older version of Outlook did not.

I was also able to import my Gmail contacts into Outlook but if I add a new contact in Gmail or in Outlook they will not sync with each other, I have to manually add the contact in each location.

Is this not possible in the new version of Outlook? Is there a utility that would keep this up to date for me?

Thank you,

Zach

This is classic MS trickery. The new outlook supports gmail, but it doesn't! Just like you, mine works for calendar, but not contacts. This is by design because MS wants your contacts to reside on their servers. They can do lot mining this information and monetize it. Instead, they 'download' google contacts onto the outlook servers and now we have to separate lists of contacts to maintain.

MS does that sneakily and they do not announce their intentions.

I was happy to try the new OL, but MS software design and lack of transparency is not OK with me. I ended up using em client. One of the best Windows email clients and it works flawlessly with Google.

    Good luck

    Hello Zach,

I’m Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

Yes, it is possible to sync contacts between the “New Outlook” and Gmail contacts. You can use the duplicate contacts in both Google Gmail and Outlook without adding them manually to both locations. However, Outlook and Gmail have separate address books and don’t sync automatically, which means that if you change your contacts in one or the other, you have one address book that remains unchanged. To keep your address books synced with free, open-source software, you can use a program like Contacts Sync or GO Contacts Sync Mod. These programs can help you keep your Gmail and Outlook contacts in check. If you change one, you can use these programs to update the other quickly, conveniently, and almost effortlessly.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.

For Your Information: You can add whatever contacts you want on an Exchange Address List, and it will sync flawlessly on Outlook.

What you can not do is have your Gsuite contacts on Outlook and sync automatically.

So all the rage you are mentioning here is in fact .. due a Google thing.
