Google Chrome Broken Text

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, or at least asking a question on it, and it's not even about my computer.

My mother has a Lenovo running Win10, and recently, as in today, Google Chrome starting acting up. The only issue thus far is that when using the browser, the text on websites, and on the search screen itself, randomly becomes broken up. The issue seems to only bee in Chrome, as I couldn't replicate it in Microsoft Edge. I have tried updating Chrome's Extensions, going into Chrome's Properties and changing the DPI settings, clearing Chrome's cache, and restoring Chrome's settings to their default. Nothing seems to have fixed the issue. I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas? I have three image files attached - one is a screenshot showing the broken text issue, and the other 2 are screenshots of the System Summary. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Logan

This is being widely reported in the last 24 hours, this is caused by a Windows 10 update . . .

Hopefully, Microsoft are now aware of this bug and will resolve it with a patch very soon

In the meantime, you could try re-installing Chrome and if that does not work, for the moment, until Microsoft resolve this latest bug, your Mother may have to use Edge or Internet Explorer . .

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor and Office Insider for Android. I am here to work with you on this problem.

    Kindly try these steps:

    1. Open google chrome:
    2. Type in address bar:

    chrome://flags/

    1. Disable Accelerated 2D canvas

    General text fix:

Go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Adjust ClearType text (on the left). Check the box entitled “Turn on ClearType.” After going through a short wizard, this will fix some of the text rendering issues in Chrome

I had the same issue and attempted the above remedies about a month and a half ago. Nothing seemed to work. A couple days later it just started working properly again. As of yesterday, the issue has started up again. Any new thoughts on fixes for this issue?

I had to turn off hardware acceleration under Chrome's advanced settings. Seems fine now.
